On which course are you a tutor?
Traineeships and NEET Programme.
Why did you become a tutor?
Every job I have ever had has always been about helping people and being a tutor allows me to help and guide learners to achieve their goals and aspirations. I also have the opportunity to help learners gain valuable qualifications, to allow them to progress onto apprenticeships or gain employment.
What do you think is the most interesting aspect of the course you deliver?
Our course offers every learner the opportunity to engage in maths and English in a relaxed environment, where they can work at their own pace. It also allows each learner the chance to explore different career paths and gain work experience for their CVs, which can lead to fulltime employment or an apprenticeship.
What experiences of your own do you bring to the course?
I have taught maths for nearly 7 years and English for 3 years.
What do you love about working for Somerset Skills and Learning?
I love the relaxed environment and the friendly staff, who are always available to help.
What advice would you give to anyone considering your course?
Don’t let the fear of maths or English prevent you from applying to come on this course. You will receive all the support you need, along with one to ones to help develop your learning. If you are unsure of what you want to do for work experience we, as a team, will give you as much information and guidance as we can to help you make the right choice.
If you were stuck in a lift with someone, who would it be and why?
Firstly, I would hope I would never get stuck in a lift as I can’t think of anything worse!
If this had to happen however, I would have to say, Liam Gallagher, because he is still one of my favorite artists and I am sure he would have many interesting stories to tell to help pass the time.
What is your most annoying habit?
Always being right!
