
Course Overview
Kickstart your career in accounting with our Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship (Level 3). This programme is perfect for those looking to support internal and external finance functions within an organisation or practice. You’ll gain hands-on experience in essential financial activities, including data entry, preparing month-end accounts, and year-end statements. You may also assist with VAT returns and tax computations, providing you with a broad range of valuable accounting skills.
As part of your apprenticeship, you will work towards the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting qualification, which aligns with professional recognition as an AAT Qualified Bookkeeper. This apprenticeship will equip you with the skills needed to thrive in the accounting profession and open doors for future career opportunities.
Duration
It’s anticipated that it will take 15-18 months to complete this qualification but this will be discussed with you when you start. It’s a rolling programme so you can start at any time of the year.
Entry Requirements
Requirements for English and Maths will be dependent upon age, previous qualifications, and chosen apprenticeship standard. This will be discussed during the application process. Full support is given to any applicant required or desiring to work towards their Maths and English qualifications.
It’s preferable to have a Level 2 Certificate in Accounting or equivalent experience in an accounting role, but if you’re new to accounting, don’t worry! We provide two foundational bookkeeping units during the first three months to help you build the right skills.
Fee Information
Your training is fully funded by contributions from the government and your employer.
To receive government funding, you must currently live in England and have lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years.
Assessment
The course is delivered through a mixture of workplace training, tutor-led classes, group work and individual study. You’ll be taught the core knowledge, skills and behaviours by our expert tutors who will also support you to develop your portfolio which will be used to gather evidence.
An End Point Assessment will be carried out at the end of your apprenticeship and your tutor will help you to prepare for this.
Progression
After completing this apprenticeship, you’ll have the skills to move into roles such as Professional Accountant, Audit Trainee, Corporate Recovery Analyst, Credit Controller, or Tax Accountant.
