Traineeships (Pre-Apprenticeships)

Resources for Schools

If you have the opportunity to talk to young people about their next steps and future career, we have a selection of tools that can help provide inspiration to add to your presentation.

We’ve developed a series of videos, tools and guides to help parents, carers and educators talk about Traineeships and the benefits.

If you have any questions or need more information please contact Kate on 07899 961 542 or email kmpriddle@sslcic.co.uk

Let’s start with the FAQs…

Who are traineeships for?

Traineeships are for young people aged 16-24* who work less than 16 hours a week (or are unemployed), with little or no work experience, who hold no qualifications or are qualified to Level 3 or below.

*25 with an Education Health & Care Plan (EHCP).

What is a traineeship?

A traineeship is a course with work experience that gets you ready for work, an apprenticeship or further study and it typically lasts between six weeks and six months. You can start a traineeship at any time during the year.

SS&L unique traineeships cover ten specialist work sectors, plus we can tailor a traineeship to suit you in an alternative area of work. And you’ll receive £100 on completion and qualification! Our traineeships are available across Somerset, Devon and Wiltshire.

What can a traineeship lead to?

SS&L traineeships are a great way to get into the world of work. Many of our trainees go on to become apprentices, others are now in full time work and enjoying the benefits of working life and some have gone on to further study. Whatever your goals, contact us to start your traineeship journey.

What do we offer?

Our traineeships cover a range of specialist work sectors, plus we can tailor a traineeship to suit you in an alternative area of work, for example if you want to train as a mechanic, an electrician, learn floristry or something else. Check out the individual traineeships below…
