Moorvale Creative CIC was launched in Summer 2017 with the aim of developing and providing projects under 3 key strands: creative wellbeing; equality in communities; & social cohesion. They mainly deliver projects to adults across the Somerset and Devon area but do also run projects for families or children & young people. Some of their delivery is online so reaches to the wider UK and beyond.
Music Making, Singing & Songwriting – they will offer a range of classes including:
- Rhythm Guitar Classes – for beginners and those that need help to progress. Learning open chords to extended and barre chords, strum patterns to fingerpicking techniques.
- Vocal Technique Classes – Covering all aspects of vocal technique for Contemporary Commercial Music Styles ie pop, rock, jazz. This will be for beginners or those that have some knowledge of breath, support, vocal folds, shaping the sound
- Song sessions – some will be open and others will focus on songs of Peace, Hope and Unity.
- Collaborative Music Making & Songwriting sessions – these sessions allow musicians of all abilities to come together and find ways to explore different approaches to music making and songwriting via group exercises and improvisation.
Body-Voice Connection – combining yoga, chanting, guided meditation with music, basic vocal shaping of sound and shared food. These sessions offer learners an opportunity to explore physical, mental and vocal tensions in a safe space. Learners will then have some simple exercises to continue at home or may choose to join other local classes. No previous experience is required. They can work with all abilities.
Women’s Creative Writing – developing skills in writing fact based articles, fiction or poetry. The tutor will set a variety of tasks for learners to complete and these will be developed to improve writing skills. Via a range of stimuli, information and short tasks learners of all abilities will find different ways to approach creative writing. Learners are encouraged to share their writing with the group. There will also be an opportunity to share written work online.
