This qualification, delivered online via Zoom, accredits learners with an Ofqual L2 Award in Adults First Aid for Mental health. The course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to recognise a range of mental health conditions, gain the confidence to start a supportive conversation and understand when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help.
What is covered:
· Become a fully accredited First Aider for mental health
· Know what mental health is, why people develop mental health conditions and the role of a First Aider for mental health in the workplace
· Identify factors that can affect a person’s mental health
· Identify signs/symptoms of various Mental health conditions
· Know how to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting with a mental health condition
· Understand the first aid action plan for mental health and have sound knowledge of signposting/support services

Learners are required to attend a Pre course and Post course, telephone meeting with one of our tutors and must be available on all the following dates to be accepted onto this course:
Pre course induction telephone call: 30th November or 2nd December 2021
Day 1 of course: Tuesday 7th December 10-1pm
Day 2 of course: Thursday 9th December 10-1pm
Assessment – 1 hour assessment slot 13th December (TBA with learner)
Post course review telephone call and results: 14th or 16th December 2021
Once enrolled you will receive an email from Mind in Somerset, within 3 working days of registering.
This email will confirm the time in which you will be contacted to undertake your Pre - Course call and schedule your post-Course results and review call.
Failure to attend may result in you being removed for the course.

Learners have a maximum of 60 minutes to complete a multiple-choice question paper from delivery of content to confirm they have acquired the knowledge and skills required to achieve the Award. Assessments will be held remotely via Zoom on the 13th December
There is no grading of the assessment; learners either pass or are referred and will be given the opportunity to retake.
This course will allow you to increase your involvement in local community support and improve social relationships, develop your personal skills & upskill your CV. Attendance on this course means achieving a recognised Ofqual accredited certificate that is valid for three years, improving chances of employment.
There is ongoing support & guidance provided by our expert tutors throughout your learning journey and your post course review will allow an opportunity to be signposted onto recommended curse to further underpin and develop your knowledge in this subject area.
Need to know…
All learners are required to complete a Pre-Course and Post Course call with one of our tutors in order to secure their space and be awarded with their formal certification.
There is a level of unsupervised learning required so a learner must have the literacy skills to be able to read and self-learn the reference manual and additional resources.
This course is free for those aged 19+ with a Somerset home address (B&NES and North Somerset not included) and have lived in the UK or European economic area for the last 3 years.
Please note that Mind in Somerset incurs significant fees for non-attendance on the dates listed and therefore reserves the right to issue an £80 fee to those who do not complete the course after enrolling without a minimum of 5 working days prior notice of withdrawal.
