This Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard is for you if you work or are looking to work with young people in early learning, childcare, social care or learning development or support.
It will demonstrate your competence to employers to support children from conception to 5 years with their early education, working with their parents/guardians, keeping them safe and getting them ready for school. It could lead to you getting a job like a nursery nurse, reception class teacher or registered childminder.
You will need to be in relevant work to complete the Apprenticeship but if you don’t currently have a job or placement we can help introduce you to employers.
Completing this Apprenticeship will allow you to go on to further qualifications to develop your skills, knowledge and progress your career.
As part of the Apprenticeship you will also gain your Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid.
As a competence qualification it will need the support of an employer. It’s anticipated that it will take 18 months to complete this qualification but this will be discussed with you when you start. It’s a rolling programme so you can start at any time of the year.
Learning will be varied and will include workplace learning and fortnightly training workshops run by our expert tutors with PowerPoints, videos, tutor led group discussions and group work so you will get to meet other people on a similar journey to you.
There is also a requirement of individual study and there may be the requirement of witness testimonies from the workplace. Your tutor will regularly visit the workplace to observe you carrying out the job to complete the competence element and to give you training and feedback. An e-portfolio will be used for collection of evidence.
Those progressing from the Early Years Educator Level 3 Standard may want to consider a Foundation Degree or the Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner. Your progression options can be discussed with your tutor.
Ideally you need GCSE grade A* – C (9-4) including Maths and English or Functional Skills Level 2 equivalents, BKSB Initial Assessment Level 2 and ICT skills.
You need to be in relevant employment or be work ready.
There are no learner fees for apprenticeships
