English Skills for Life (ESOL) is for you if English is not your first language. It’s an ideal course if you’re an adult and need to improve your English for work, further learning or everyday life.
You will develop your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in a friendly and supportive environment.
On completion and passing of this course, you’ll receive a qualification and a certificate.
Classes take place at various times and locations and you can join this course at any time during the year.
There are 5 levels of assessment. Entry Level 1 to Entry Level 3 are paper-based assessments. Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications may also be taken on screen. You will be assessed in 3 skills:
· Reading
· Writing
· Speaking and Listening
You can take a qualification in each skill separately.
At the end of the course, you will discuss future options with your tutor. You may choose to continue to improve your English by taking further ESOL courses, Functional Skills or GCSE English. Your tutor will also signpost you to other courses available within SS&L or with external organisations.
Explore the full range of workshops and courses from SS&L – there are many to choose from!
You do not need any formal qualifications to join the course. You will need to attend an assessment so that the tutor can recommend the right learning pathway for you.
As this course leads to a formal qualification, you need to attend classes regularly. The course can take up to 6 months to complete and so is not suitable if you’re only going to be in the UK for a short time.
