Are you confused by your iPad or tablet, baffled by your smartphone or lost with your laptop? You’re not alone!
Technology is developing and changing constantly, so it can be really hard to keep up! Many people rely on family and friends to help them with their tech, but even with their support some can still feel unsure about using their devices.
This course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to use your own device independently. It has been created for both beginners and people who already have a basic understanding of technology.
In this 12 week course we explore and develop your skills in the following areas:
Solving technical issues
Managing storage and using the Cloud
Using social media
Online safety
Creating & editing documents (Word, Spreadsheets & Presentation Applications)
Online shopping & transacting
Searching online & evaluating the information
Digital wellbeing
Protecting devices & digital media
There is a short exam at the end, which will provide you with an official qualification in Essential Digital Skills.
In-session coursework and the occasional homework.
One exam at the end.
Depending on your ability you can either move to our Level 1 course, or take a look at our exciting new Level 3 courses.
No qualifications are needed. A genuine interest in digital skills and technology is all you need, as well as being able to attend all the sessions.
We can loan you a laptop, or you are more than welcome to use your own device.
This course is free if you meet the eligibility criteria:
You must be aged 19 or over as at 31 August 2023.
You must have lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years.
You must currently reside in England outside of · Cambridgeshire and Peterborough · Greater Manchester · Greater London · Liverpool City Region · Tees Valley · West Midlands · North of Tyne · Sheffield City Region · West Yorkshire · West of England (WECA - covering Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire)
Essential digital skills qualifications up to and including level 1 are Fully funded for individuals aged 19 and over, who have digital skills assessed at below level 1
