This qualification is an awareness course designed to help you identify a range of common mental health conditions, how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help.
You will be expected to complete 3 hours of independent study outside the live delivery prior to your assessment of learning. Time and date will be agreed with you in the live session.
This course will allow you to increase your involvement in local community support and improve social relationships, develop your personal skills & upskill your CV.
Attendance on this course means achieving a recognised Ofqual accredited certificate that is valid for three years.
There is ongoing support & guidance provided by our expert tutors throughout your learning journey and you will be able to access a combination of tutor led delivery and guided self-study, which is both interactive and practical.

Formal assessment is optional – The qualification has 3 assigned guided learning hours with a recommended 3 hours of self-study. The qualification is assessed via an online assessment paper and evidenced by a recorded video call.
The learner has a maximum of 60 minutes to complete the assessment in a session with the tutor, which will be arranged with the learner in the live sessions. There is no grading of the assessment; learners pass or are referred.
There is the opportunity for further learning development by completing the L2 Award First Aid for Mental Health, giving you fully qualified, First Aider status in Mental Health.

All learners will be requested to complete pre course information before receiving their Zoom invite to join the live sessions. How to complete this information will be sent to the learner within 5 working days following sign up and must be completed to secure space on the training.
Due to this being a distance learning qualification and the level of unsupervised learning required, a learner must have the literacy skills to be able to read and self-learn the reference manual and additional resources.
Access to a stable internet connection, to communicate with the tutor is essential and participants must be willing to join by video call.
This course is free for those residing in Somerset (B&NES and North Somerset not included) and have lived in the UK or European economic area for the last 3 years
