This course is ideal if you want to get a taste of what it would be like to be a support worker in a school.
You’ll learn about the different types of settings and think about the kinds of support that you may need to offer.
This course runs every fortnight on a Tuesday. It’s an online course where you will have guided taught sessions from an experienced professional tutor.
This a great course to do if you are thinking about working in a school; this could be as a support worker, a volunteer, a teaching assistant or a lunchtime supervisor.

Your tutor will assess your work and give you feedback. Your work will then be internally verified.
There are no exams for this course.
You will be able to go on to complete Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and then there is a possibility of a Level 2 Playworker Apprenticeship. After this, you may want to complete a Level 3 Apprenticeship as a Teaching Assistant to support a full-time role in the industry. The world will truly be your oyster!
You do not need any entry requirements for this course; however, a Level 1 in English and Maths or working towards will support your role further.
You will need access to Zoom so that you can attend the fortnightly sessions and download the workbooks and any other materials you may need. You should have a willingness to learn and work in the area that you are applying for.
