This self-study qualification is an introduction to the knowledge and understanding needed to work in a school environment.
It can apply to the many varied roles that full and part-time support staff may fulfil including: administration, site support, technical and volunteers, as well as roles that work directly with children and young people in the learning environment.
Written evidence will be assessed by members of the tutoring team to ensure all 5 mandatory units have been completed.
Progress could include the completion of the full Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning In Schools. Completion of both courses would support progression to apprenticeship opportunities at Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard.
Learners should ideally have the equivalent of Level 1 literacy skills, however, a formal qualification is not required as this will be assessed prior to starting the course.

This course is free for those learners:
● aged 19 or over at 31 August 2023
● Who have lived in the UK/EAA for the last 3 years
● Who currently reside in Somerset
