The purpose of this qualification is to increase the learner’s knowledge and awareness of the Prevent Duty and Safeguarding, including online safety.
By completing the qualification, learners will develop knowledge of safeguarding in an environment where they have a duty of care.
This qualification is suitable for those responsible for safeguarding others.
Learners should be at least 19 years old. We do not set any other entry requirements, but Centres may have their own guidelines.
This qualification contains 3 mandatory units:
• Unit 01 Understanding the Prevent Duty
• Unit 02 Understanding Safeguarding
• Unit 03 Understanding Online Safety.
This course is delivered online by your personal tutor and assessed remotely via an e-platform.
To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the mandatory units as detailed in the qualification specification.
The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent is internally assessed.
They will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task.
This course is assessed via coursework. There are no exams included.
You may wish to attend our other workshops and courses related to your personal development or access our Adult Skills courses.

Entry is at the discretion of the Centre. However, learners should be aged at least 19 to undertake the qualification.
There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.
Learners should ideally have the equivalent of Level 1 literacy skills, however, a formal qualification is not required as this will be assessed prior to starting the course.
Learners need access to the internet and a computer/laptop to complete the coursework.
