This qualification aims to give learners knowledge of different Specific Learning Difficulties, how they are diagnosed and how individuals can be supported. The qualification can be used by a wide range of learners looking to improve their knowledge and awareness in this subject area.

This qualification will be suitable for teaching staff, care staff or anyone looking to build their knowledge of dyslexia and other learning difficulties.

Learners should be aged 19 and above. There are no pre-requisites for this qualification; entry is at the discretion of the Centre.

This course is delivered online by your personal tutor and assessed remotely via an e-platform.

Course assessment

To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the mandatory units as detailed in the qualification specification.

The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties is internally assessed. They will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task.

This course is assessed via coursework. There are no exams included.

Need to know…

Entry Requirements:

Entry is at the discretion of the Centre. However, learners should be aged at least 19 to undertake the qualification.

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.

Learners should ideally have the equivalent of Level 1 literacy skills, however, a formal qualification is not required as this will be assessed prior to starting the course.

Learners need access to the internet and a computer/laptop to complete the coursework.

SS&L ask that learners demonstrate a willingness to learn and complete the course.

Fee information:

The cost of this course is £811. To be eligible for funding, learners must either live or work in Somerset. Other eligibility criteria may apply.
