Course overview

This Level 3 qualification focuses on the study of mental health and mental well-being to support different occupational areas and offers breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge and understanding.

The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to understand:

· Mental health legislation, services and public attitudes and how these have evolved

· How to support mental well-being through various stages of life

· Mental ill health, treatment options available and the potential consequences of mental ill health

· The skills required to work in a mental health service

This is an evening online course running weekly on a Wednesday 6pm – 8pm and will be delivered via Zoom.

Course assessment

Students are assessed through assignments. For each unit of study you will need to submit an assignment to your Management expert Tutor. Your work is marked and you are provided with detailed feedback on your work submission. You can submit your assignments as and when you have completed each unit of study.

There are no exams for this course.

Course progression

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to: Level 3 Award in Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care, Level 3 Certificate in Working in the Health Sector, Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support Teaching & Learning Assistant, Level 3 Early Years, Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England, Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England), Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support Services, Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support.

Entry Requirements:

You should ideally have the equivalent of Level 2 literacy skills, however, a formal qualification is not required as this will be assessed prior to starting the course.

You will need access to a computer or device to use Zoom for the online training and to download and upload your work.

This Level 3 Course is FREE as part of the Free Courses For Jobs offer, funded by the Government for eligible adults.

Eligibility

Adults aged 19 and above can get a free level 3 qualification if they:

· Are 19 or over and do not already have a level 3 qualification

· Already have a level 3 qualification or higher, but earn below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319 from April 2013)

· Already have a level 3 qualification or higher but are unemployed
