Shamza, meaning ‘little sun’ is a beautiful and intricate artistic pattern found commonly in Turkey and other Middle Eastern countries.
This workshop will guide learners through how to create and decorate their own Turkish Shamza pattern using everyday art supplies.
Students will work with a template and colour palette to produce their own individual Shamza design. Our friendly tutor will talk you through all the steps and techniques required to design your own work of art!
You will need:
Watercolour/cartridge paper & photocopy paper (if this isn’t possible, regular A4 will do!)
A selection of coloured paints (if you have gouache, fantastic – if not, any paints or even coloured pencils/felt tips will work fine)
A selection of small paintbrushes
Water cup & painting palette (a plate will do!)
If you are unable to source these materials, have any questions or require assistance in getting hold of this list of items, please contact Lucy Hill on firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be able to help.
There is no formal assessment for this workshop.
On completion of this workshop, learners may be interested in exploring the variety of free community learning opportunities available at SS&L – including more arts and crafts based activities.
