Course overview

If you have experienced the challenges of caring for and supporting children as they grow up and struggle with their emotions, then this course is for you. Often the challenge for us is not actually the child or their behaviour, but our own emotional reaction to their distress.

This course will allow you to explore the underlying causes of your emotional responses and address your own needs as a parent figure while caring for your child. When you look after your own wellbeing first, you can be there more fully for your child and support them even better through their childhood experiences.

Exploring themes such as self-compassion, parenting beliefs, intuition and the inner child, and including take-home wellbeing techniques, such as visualisation and affirmations, this course provides a deeply self-nurturing approach to parenting.

Open to any adult who cares for children, including parents, grandparents, carers and anyone else who has an interest in learning how to manage their own emotional landscape as a parental figure. Expectant parents are welcome to come and learn, ready to welcome their child into the world, and pre-crawling babies are welcome to attend with their adult.

This course builds on the themes of the Wellbeing for Parenting - Starter course, it is helpful to do the starter course first. Search the SS&L website for details. You can also benefit from this course if you have pre-existing knowledge of how to promote and support emotional wellbeing in children.
