Do you want to gain of a grasp of how to best care for babies and children in an Early Years setting?
This Level 2 Early Years qualification will support you in preparing for the next step in your career, either in training or moving towards work.
You’ll have the opportunity to study a range of topics from three main areas:
- Childcare and education
- Babysitting
- Parenting responsibilities
It contains all the units included in the Level 2 Award in Babysitting and the Level 2 Award in Preparation for the Responsibilities of Parenting. Additionally, there are units covering learning, development and play.

This course can be fully funded (FREE) for people aged 19 or over who:
- live in Somerset (not including Bath & North-East Somerset/North Somerset) or Dorset
- have lived in the UK/EU for the last 3 years or have leave to remain
- meet at least one of the following:

- are employed with an annual income of less than £25,000
- are unemployed AND in receipt of benefits.
- have no qualifications of level 2 or above
Proof of eligibility will be requested.
Entry Requirements
This is an online Level 2 distance-learning course. You will receive a log in for an online resources book and then you answer the questions online. Access to the internet and a computer/laptop is essential to complete the coursework. You will have a named tutor in case you have any questions throughout the course.
There are no specific prior qualifications needed to access this qualification, although you may find it useful to have previously achieved a Level 1 qualification. You should ideally have the equivalent of Level 1 literacy skills, however, a formal qualification is not required as this will be assessed prior to starting the course. You will need access to the internet and a computer/laptop to complete the coursework.
Assessment
To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Introducing Caring for Children & Young People, learners must complete 16 credits.
You will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task.
Progression
Further Level 2 Early Years qualification options to progress onto include the Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education and Care. You could also move onto an apprenticeship with SS&L, with the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner or Level 3 Early Years Educator options both being good choices.
