
Course Overview
Do you want to work in an Early Years setting?
In this course you will work towards the Early Years Practitioner (EYP) Qualification (Level 2), and gain professional industry experience with potential future progression onto Early Years Educator Level 3. Staff members with a EYP L2 qualification can be counted in the Level 2 staff to child ratios in childcare settings.
You will be taught by an industry qualified and highly experienced local tutor, with any additional support to suit your personal learning style and needs.

Please note, this course is not the Apprenticeship, this is a Diploma only course.

This course can be fully funded (FREE) for people aged 19 or over who:
- live in Somerset (not including Bath & North-East Somerset/North Somerset) or Dorset
- have lived in the UK/EU for the last 3 years or have leave to remain
- meet at least one of the following:

- are employed with an annual income of less than £25,000
- are unemployed AND in receipt of benefits.
- have no qualifications of level 2 or above
Proof of eligibility will be requested.
Entry Requirements
To study for this qualification, you will need to be working or volunteering in an Early Years Childcare setting for at least 10 hours a week.
You should ideally have the equivalent of Level 1 literacy skills, however, a formal qualification is not required as this will be assessed prior to starting the course.
You will need access to the internet and a computer/laptop to complete the coursework.
You must currently live in Somerset/Dorset.
You must have been resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than study.
You must be over the age of 19.
You must not be on an apprenticeship.
There is a £100 cancellation fee if you enrol and do not complete or withdraw from the course. This fee is to cover administration costs.
Assessment
You must complete a total of 9 mandatory units to successfully complete this qualification.
During your course you will complete coursework to evidence and achieve this Diploma. Additional activities may include assignments, observations, reviews, witness records, reflective accounts.
Your tutor will support you through assessing your work and provide you with constructive feedback regularly to help you produce the standard of evidence required for this qualification.
Progression
On achievement of this qualification, you will gain access to further learning via the SS&L Early Years curriculum offer, including the Level 3 Diploma for Early Years Educator and / or Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard.
