Apprentice of the month – February 2021

Congratulations to Megan, who is our Apprentice of the Month winner for February!

Megan’s tutor and her employer, Head Teacher at Welton Primary tell us why she has been chosen.

Megan has shown a commitment towards learning, progressing with Somerset Skills & Learning from Level 2 to Level 3 teaching assistant. She is always positive and determined to succeed. Megan has shown that she clearly loves her role in the school and strives to become the best she can.” (Karen Savill – Course Lead STLS)

John Snell, Head Teacher at Welton Primary School comments, Well what can I say! I’m not surprised that Megan has been awarded Apprentice of the Month as she is consistently a beacon of good practice! She works incredibly hard yet with care and compassion for the children in her care. Nothing is ever too much for Megan. She has a really positive ‘can do’ attitude, which means that she is a well respected and admired member of the school team.

He continues, I have been particularly impressed with Megan’s willingness to take on a variety of roles, particularly during the latest lockdown period, where she has supported almost all children in the school from Reception to Year 6, at some point! Megan has also excelled in her work to support specific children through interventions in phonics, to such a positive extent that parents of these children have commented how impressed they have been with the progress their children have been making. All in all, a well deserved award for a well deserved apprentice! Brilliant!

Megan is so delighted with the award and says, I just wanted to say thank you to SS&L for the gift voucher I received. I am so grateful and proud of myself that I got Apprentice of the Month – it means a lot to me.
