It starts with the kids – courses for childcarers…

We want to help you understand how children develop and learn, which is why we’ve designed workshops and courses with that aim.

Whether you’re already working in childcare, thinking about it or you’re a parent/carer, we have something to help you. Our courses will give you a better insight into the developmental side of childcare and offer you a new perspective to encourage children to flourish. Not only will you have the opportunity to build better relationships with children, you’ll also be able to help them learn, develop and grow right before your eyes!

Our free workshops are available to anyone living in Somerset, aged 19+. So, take a look at what we have to offer and plan your next steps to supporting children’s progress…

Make learning fun

We have an online workshop that runs every month. Our Fun Activities to Support Children’s Holistic Development workshop will provide you with a basic introduction to child development and suggest several activities to help children blossom.

Learning to teach

If you’re considering a teaching support role, but you’re not sure what to expect, try our taster session Introduction to Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools. This short online workshop provides an overview of options if you’re interested in working with children and young people and it’ll help you identify existing knowledge and skills, and show you how these can be developed.

Building foundations

A Nursery Assistant Traineeship is ideal if you’re interested in gaining work experience in childcare. You can test the water to see if a childcare career could be for you, whilst building your confidence, plus getting maths and English qualifications, if required. So long as you’re aged 16-24 and are qualified to Level 3 or below, this programme will start to develop your skills and knowledge so you can move forward.

If you know what you want to do, are ready for work and aged 16+, then the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship is the perfect place to begin. You will gain on the job training, work experience, a nationally recognised qualification and earn a wage. Apprenticeships often lead to full time employment or progression into further study.

We hope we’ve given you a good insight into how to improve your childcare skills and knowledge. Have a question? Or looking for something else? Our friendly team are available on 0330 332 7997, via Live Chat below or use the contact us form. We’d love to hear from you!
