Qualifications to make a difference

Children and young people are among the most vulnerable in our society when it comes to the impact of adverse circumstances on their lives.

Adverse childhood experiences can impact the development and mental health of those affected, the consequences resulting in altered life chances in adulthood. These might be personal events such as the death or divorce of parents, domestic violence or even national and international disasters. Children and young people affected by such events need support, to strengthen their resilience and empower them to overcome their fears and the challenges they face.

So far, this year has been a difficult and challenging time for everyone and we’re yet to know the true impact that lockdown and home schooling has had on children’s and young people’s mental health. Somerset Skills & Learning are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our communities and we’re pleased to be offering two free*, distance learning mental health qualifications:

Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences

Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children And Young People’s Mental Health

Both courses will enhance your personal skills and professional development. You will gain the knowledge to understand and support children and young people with mental health concerns, helping them to truly flourish.

Could you be part of the future support network? Maybe you already work with children and young people in a school, or nursery? Perhaps you’re looking to return to work but want to change direction? Or perhaps you’re a parent who would like a better understanding of children and young people’s mental health. Whatever your reason, investing in your future with mental health qualifications could not only change your life, but the lives of many others.
