SS&L Apprentice of the Month – April 2026

“I am genuinely blown away by Keida’s exceptional dedication, resilience, and professionalism. She is a credit to her workplace and to the apprenticeship program.”

This month, we are celebrating Keida, a Level 2 apprentice working at Crown Medical Centre in Taunton. She was nominated by SS&L Tutor Hollie:

“I have nominated Keida in recognition of her exceptional dedication, resilience and professionalism. She has shown remarkable determination, approaching her studies with focus and positivity. Her ability to bounce back from any setbacks is a testament to her strength of character and commitment to her role.”

Gaining Confidence

Before applying for an apprenticeship with SS&L, Keida wasn’t just looking for any old job. Long-term, she wanted stability. More important than that, she wanted a career that would mean something.

“Seeing the apprenticeship with SS&L and Crown Medical Centre, I knew this would give me what I was looking for,” she explains. “I was hoping to get more confidence in myself, as I was very quiet to begin with. I’d say I’ve definitely found my confidence now!”

This confidence has been noticed by Keida’s manager Sharon too:

“Keida has progressed so well, and deserves this recognition. She has become an important part of the reception and admin team here. Her confidence has grown so much since she started with us a year ago. With no knowledge or experience of working in a GP surgery, she is now using her new skills to help our patients every day. It’s so nice to see Keida being able to help others and feel confident doing it!”

Finding meaning in employment

Through her apprenticeship and employment with Crown Medical, Keida has achieved her goal of finding a worthwhile profession. When dealing with patients who often experience anxiety and stress, Keida excels in balancing compassion and action.

“In my recent observation, I was genuinely blown away”, says Hollie. “Keida demonstrates a thorough understanding of her organisation, confidently supporting both patients and her colleagues. Her communication is mature, compassionate, and always centred around providing the best possible patient experience.”

What comes next

“I’d love to stay with my current employer once I finish my apprenticeship,” Keida tells us. “I’d like to take on further training as I’d like to progress into a General Practice Assistant role with the clinical team.”

One thing is for certain, though, Hollie is confident Keida has a bright future. “Her progress, professionalism, and dedication to her role make her very deserving of this recognition. She is a credit to her workplace and to the apprenticeship programme. Well done, Keida!”

And if anyone asked her advice on starting their own apprenticeship? “Just do it,” she says. “It’s been very helpful both personally and professionally.”
