Staff Director reaps benefits of volunteer day by inspiring others to sow

SS&L Staff Director Emma Street recently took a day off from her usual duties to help a local charity.

All SS&L staff are given two ‘volunteer days’ per year. They can take these at any time to work with a charity of their choosing.

Emma volunteers with Frome Seed Library, who work to share locally grown seeds, and encourage seed-saving and storage.

On Wednesday 4 December, she ran a seed-saving and gardener drop in at Frome Library.

“It was a great day, and I had the opportunity to speak with lots of people from the community,” Emma said.

“We managed to process and create over 100 packages of ready-to-plant seeds to be shared with local growers, free of charge.”
