We care for the carer…

We’re taking part in Carers Week to raise awareness of and highlight the challenges for unpaid carers, recognising the contribution they make to their families, local communities, workplaces and society. We’re also running a selection of workshops to help support carers and make their lives a little easier.

Unpaid carers don’t always think of themselves as carers. We want to help them understand that they are and encourage them to access much needed support. Carers need to be recognised for the difficulties they experience, respected for what they do, be provided with information and given the support they need to care safely. So during this week, we’re aiming to make caring visible, valued and supported.

Are you a carer?

You’re a carer if you look after a family member or friend who has a disability, mental or physical illness, suffers with addiction or who needs extra help as they grow older. Being a carer can cause challenges in your work and home life, affect your health and wellbeing and impact on your finances. You may feel caring is one of the most important things you do, but the impact on yourself should not be underestimated. Caring without the right information and support can be difficult.

So join us this week as we highlight what an important and vital role caring is and take your pick of the workshops we have available to support you in your journey.
