Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship – Level 2

Course Overview

This course is the first step towards a foundation in Children and Young People’s Workforce (CYPW) sector. This can lead to employment, further education or Early Years Educator (EYE) Level 3.

You will work towards the Early Years Practitioner (EYP) Qualification (Level 2), with future progression onto Early Years Educator Level 3 Standard and gain professional industry experience.

You will be taught by an expert industry qualified and highly experienced, local tutor, with any additional support to suit your personal learning style and learning needs.

This course covers range of theoretical and applied knowledge. You will develop knowledge, skills and behaviours relevant to meet the Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard. This will also include practical observations.

The course will be taught via blended learning, with classroom delivery.

All students will complete Skills Scan and initial assessments prior to enrolment to ascertain role and programme suitability, and to build an Individual Learning Plan to meet skills gaps, knowledge, skills behaviour development and qualification specification.

This is a popular course, where you will meet groups of like-minded people. There will be classroom project work and additional team working opportunities. You will be encouraged to share good industry practice and experiences.

Duration

It’s anticipated that it will take 18 months to complete this qualification but this will be discussed with you when you start.

It’s a rolling programme so you can start at any time of the year.

Entry Requirements

Level 1 English and maths or above.

You need to be in relevant employment or be work ready.

Fee Information

Your training is fully funded by contributions from the government and your employer.

To receive government funding, you must currently live in England and have lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years.

Assessment

Learning will be varied and will include workplace learning and fortnightly training workshops run by our expert tutors with PowerPoints, videos, tutor led group discussions and group work so you will get to meet other people on a similar journey to you. There is also a requirement of individual study and there may be the requirement of witness testimonies from the workplace.

As a competence qualification the apprenticeship will need the support of an employer. Your tutor will regularly visit the workplace to observe you carrying out the job to complete the competence element and to give you training and feedback. An e-portfolio will be used for collection of evidence.

An End Point Assessment will be carried out at the end of your apprenticeship and your tutor will help you to prepare for this. 

Progression

On completion of the course, there are various progression routes. You could progress to the Early Years Educator Level 3 Standard, Level 3 industry professional expectation for qualified staff, increased employment opportunities or secure your first job role in the early years sector. Your progression options can be discussed with your tutor.
