SS&L Apprentice of the Month – June 2025
Well done to Ciara! Our Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor apprentice has been named SS&L Apprentice of the Month for June 2025.
26-year-old Ciara already has a degree in LLB Law with Criminology from Salford University, but felt an apprenticeship would help expand on her current knowledge and skills around project management and leading a team.
“The approach that SS&L have towards their apprenticeships felt the best fit for me and being able to fit it in naturally around my daily role and responsibilities,” she said.
Ciara is currently placed at Foot Antsey, a law firm in Taunton, where she works as a Legal Operations Coordinator in the Managed Legal Services team. She’s already in charge of a small group, overseeing completions across two New Build teams (Plot Sales and New Homes), and assisting with other projects.
“I most enjoy the real life application of the theories and methods I’m currently learning about, and being able to adapt my approach to situations based on this,” Ciara said.
“The support from senior leadership is also fantastic and being given opportunities for professional growth and development alongside my apprenticeship tasks helps me to continue to stretch myself within my role.”
Her colleagues at the firm have been blown away by the impact Ciara has made thanks to her organisational skills and constant drive to succeed!
Alex Stone, Senior Legal Operations Manager, said: “Ciara has been fantastic in helping the team manage a busy and challenging line of work, her diligence and approach ensure that key elements of the transaction run smoothly for our clients and their experience is better for it.
“Upon starting her apprenticeship, Ciara has stepped further into the world of being a team leader and serves as a great example to those around her.
“Ciara has shown continuous development within her role, and I’m pleased she’s been recognised as apprentice of the month for SS&L, a reflection of the hard work she’s put in.
“I’m looking forward to seeing where this apprenticeship and her personal development continues to take her within the firm.”
But it’s not just Ciara’s colleagues who have been impressed by her efforts – her tutor, Denise Marsh, commended Ciara’s independence and high standard of work, despite being the only online learner in her group!
“Ciara is always motivated and enthusiastic even though she is the only one currently on the programme that is covering the learning in the online sessions, which is not easy when you don’t have others to discuss the learning with,” Denise said.
“She is making great progress, and it is a pleasure to be her tutor.”
It doesn’t stop there for Ciara however, as she’s already looking ahead to her career goals once she finishes her apprenticeship.
“I hope that completing my apprenticeship will provide me with key and valuable skills for leading a team, in turn allowing me to support the development of the team and individuals around me to help them achieve their goals,” she said.
“I would like to continue on the path I am on, with the view to taking on more responsibilities and people focused roles, and possibly enrol onto the Level 5 course in the future.”
