Congratulations to our November Employer of the Month, Free Rangers Forest School Nursery in Midsomer Norton!

Long-time partner of SS&L, Free Rangers have had many members of their staff complete their Early Years apprenticeships with us over the years. “Apprentices are very much full and valued members of staff at Free Rangers,” says manager Jess. “They bring fresh learning and ideas to the groups and enable staff to show their skills and knowledge as they share these with the apprentices. It’s a positive experience for everyone having staff who are training and learning.”

Who are Free Rangers?

In a beautiful farm setting, Free Rangers’ mission is to bring humanity back to education – something we can really get behind at SS&L! “We have over 20 acres of land incorporating woodland, brook, orchard, and pond area. Our ethos sets us apart from others and offers those training with us the opportunity to see the value of our outdoor learning education and learn in an environment where they can see the magic of childhood truly happen.”

“SS&L have been our learning provider for many years. We have numerous staff who have gained qualifications under SS&L and it has always been a positive experience. We changed to SS&L due to poor outcomes and communication from other providers and it was the best thing we did!”

And what’s next for the farm?

With several apprentices currently enrolled at Free Rangers, Jess confirms that things aren’t slowing down on the farm! “We are expanding our offering with the opening of The Universal Farm. This is a provision for children aged 4-7 and will ensure the Free Rangers ethos can continue into the primary years.”
