Recruitment & Onboarding Officer

Location: Bridgwater

Salary: £29,575 FTE

Hours: Flexible up to full time

Closing Date: Friday 11th September 2026

Interview Date: TBA

Who we’re looking for:

At SS&L, we are committed to delivering outstanding customer service, and as a valued member of the wider Business Development Team, you will play an important role in helping us achieve this.  You will be instrumental in the recruitment and onboarding of learners, ensuring they receive accurate information, exceptional support, and a seamless journey from initial enquiry through to the classroom.

As a Recruitment and Onboarding Officer, you will actively promote and recruit learners onto SS&L programmes by building and maintaining effective relationships with schools, referral partners, employers, and other key stakeholders.  You will provide high-quality Careers Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG), helping prospective learners make informed decisions about their future and identify the most suitable learning and career pathways.

You will be responsible for supporting learners throughout the enrolment and onboarding process, ensuring a positive experience from their first interaction with SS&L.  School engagement is a key aspect of this role, and you will regularly attend school visits, careers fairs, and community events to raise awareness of SS&L’s learning opportunities and engage potential learners across the region.

Customer experience is at the heart of everything we do. Therefore, we are seeking someone who is proactive, organised, adaptable, and an excellent communicator, with a strong commitment to delivering a high standard of service to both internal and external customers.

The successful candidate will be a motivated and enthusiastic professional who enjoys building relationships and supporting individuals to achieve their goals.  You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation to create opportunities for learning and employment while delivering an outstanding learner experience from the earliest stages of their journey.

A key element of the role will be supporting the recruitment and onboarding of apprenticeship learners.  You will take an active lead in promoting apprenticeship opportunities, matching suitable candidates with employment vacancies, and maintaining strong relationships with employer partners to encourage repeat business and successful outcomes.

You will also be responsible for managing apprenticeship vacancies through the Digital Apprenticeship Service, ensuring vacancies are accurately advertised, applications are processed efficiently, and employers are kept informed of progress and outcomes throughout the recruitment process.

At SS&L we’re proud of our culture and everyone plays a part in building SS&L as a great place to work. Most importantly, it’s how we all help to change lives through learning. We’re guided by four values:

We expect everyone who joins us to bring these to life in how they work, not just what they deliver. Why work for us:

We view our staff as an essential component in providing the very best learning opportunities and services to our learners and business partners.  Here at SS&L, our aim is not just to provide the very best learning opportunities to all; we also want to offer the very best working opportunities for our staff.

If you choose to join our dedicated staff team, you will find that SS&L provides a supportive and well-balanced working environment in which we help our staff to develop and grow in their roles.

If you can offer us the qualities we’re looking for, we can offer you an excellent working environment where you will not only receive training and development opportunities, and excellent holiday and pension benefits, you will also be supporting the growth and development of the local communities in which we operate.
