SS&L Pre-Apprentice of the Month – December 2024
Functional Skills learner and future tattoo artist Ebony has been crowned SS&L Pre-Apprentice of the Month for December. After starting her Pre-Apprenticeship in August, Ebony has been working on her Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1, and will soon be moving on to Level 2.
She was selected for the award due to her committed attitude to both in person and online classes, as well as her drive to find work experience and a placement at Refine and Design – an independent gift shop in Yeovil.
Her manager said: “Ebony has been so helpful already I couldn’t have done the first Saturday of the Christmas season without her!”
Ebony hopes to one day open her own tattoo studio, which is why she chose to do her work experience at a creative and independent business.
“Since joining SS&L my confidence has grown, and I have felt more comfortable being myself,” she said.
“It has helped me grow as a person and find my own people. When it comes to learning, SS&L has given me skills I never knew I needed, that are important for day to day life.”
Her SS&L tutor, Jack Clark, added: “Ebony has had a fantastic month and has really been pushing to hit her goals.
“She is up to date with every aspect of her course and the growth since she joined in August has been huge!”
