Many adults feel worried or stressed when faced with numbers. Some may also experience physical symptoms too, such as a racing heartbeat and sweaty palms. According to research by the University of Cambridge, “Many adults experience feelings of anxiety, apprehension, tension or discomfort when confronted by a maths problem.” Although this ‘fear’ of maths is common, it is not linked to intelligence or ability.
If you can relate to this, and would like to understand and explore your own maths beliefs and feelings, then join this session for an introduction to:
· What is maths confidence?
· Strategies to help build number resilience.
· Developing a positive maths mindset.
· How you use your numeracy skills in your life.
This engaging workshop is your first step to improving your number confidence. Who knows where this may take you.
By the end of this session, our goal is to give you the strength to overcome your ‘fear’ of maths.
Assessment of the learning will be completed by the tutor and direct feedback given to the learners.
