SS&L Apprentice of the Month – February 2025

Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprentice Izzy has been named SS&L Apprentice of the Month for February 2025. Since joining the team at Brock House Day Nursery in Taunton, Izzy has shown “great commitment” and implemented her new knowledge effectively.

Nursery Director, Deanna Hunt, was not at all surprised to learn of Izzy’s achievement, stating that the nursery team have been “very impressed” with her “passion and commitment” to the role.

“Izzy is starting to take on more responsibilities with the children, proving herself highly deserving of this recognition. Several of the children are very fond of her,” she added.

Upon receiving the award, Izzy said: “I wanted to work in childcare and work full time. An apprenticeship with SS&L allowed me to do this.

“I play with the children, teaching the babies new skills, and care for the babies’ day to day needs whilst they’re at nursery.

“I hope to complete Level 2 and to go on to do Level 3 with SS&L – also to continue to work at my lovely nursery.”

Izzy’s tutor, Kirsty Lee, commended her dedication to complete a Functional Skills qualification alongside her apprenticeship.

“Izzy is extremely keen to learn, and is using the knowledge from the course in her practice at her setting,” Kirsty explained.

“She is highly motivated to provide the best possible environment for the children in her care – working with children is her passion.”
